Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Islamic Ummah handles information when you use the app, visit this website, contact us, or later choose to create an account when account features become available.

Effective: April 30, 2026 Last updated: April 30, 2026

Islamic Ummah ("Islamic Ummah," "we," "us," or "our") provides an Islamic lifestyle app and related website experience featuring Quran reading, Hadith, Duas, prayer and calendar tools, Islamic media, image sharing features, nearby discovery features, and other faith-centered utilities.

We aim to collect as little personal information as reasonably possible while still operating the app securely and reliably. We also want this policy to stay accurate if we add account features later, including login, profile names, and profile photos.

This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. If a feature is not yet live in the current version of the app, the related section applies once that feature becomes available.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the app, we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Contact and inquiry information, such as information you send when you contact us, request support, or later submit legal, privacy, or deletion requests.
  • Account and profile information, if account features are introduced later, such as your display name, profile photo, login provider identifiers, and any other account details you choose to provide.
  • Approximate location and regional information, such as IP-based city, country, country code, and timezone data used to support prayer times, Islamic calendar, and nearby discovery features.
  • Device, usage, and diagnostic information, such as crash logs, general app activity, performance data, and analytics data generated through our app or third-party SDKs.
  • Local app preferences and settings, such as Quran display settings, verse font settings, map type, YouTube playback preferences, tasbih preferences, media playback state, and cached content used for performance or offline convenience.
  • Content interaction information, such as search queries, viewed content, shared verse images, saved images, or nearby discovery requests, when necessary to provide the feature or troubleshoot the service.

At the time of this policy update, the Android app code does not request precise GPS location permission. Nearby and regional features may instead rely on approximate location signals such as IP-based lookup or information associated with the relevant service request.

2. Financial and Sensitive Inputs

Some features may involve information that users consider sensitive, even if it is not formally treated as regulated data in every jurisdiction. For example, the Zakat calculator may involve financial values you enter into the app.

As of April 30, 2026, the app is intended to perform Zakat calculations locally on the device while separately retrieving general market-rate data such as gold and silver rates. We do not intend to send the Zakat values you type into the calculator to our server unless we clearly disclose that change in the app and update this policy.

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide and maintain the app and website.
  • To deliver Quran, Hadith, Dua, calendar, prayer, media, gallery, and discovery features.
  • To personalize settings, remember preferences, and maintain local user experience state.
  • To improve reliability, monitor performance, detect bugs, and prevent abuse.
  • To respond to inquiries, legal requests, or support needs.
  • To create, secure, operate, and personalize user accounts if login and profile features are introduced in a future version.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.

4. Third-Party Services and SDKs

The app may use third-party services, SDKs, APIs, or infrastructure providers to support core functionality. Based on the current app codebase, these may include categories such as:

  • analytics and crash reporting providers, including Firebase services;
  • map and geospatial providers, including Google Maps services;
  • video and embedded media providers, including YouTube or YouTube no-cookie playback;
  • IP-based geolocation lookup providers;
  • app hosting, networking, storage, and delivery providers; and
  • Apple App Store, Google Play, and platform-level services.

These providers may process data on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own terms and privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of any third-party service that materially affects your use of the app.

5. How We Share Information

We may share information only as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:

  • with service providers, vendors, and infrastructure partners that help us operate the app;
  • with analytics, diagnostics, map, video, hosting, or platform partners needed for app functionality;
  • with authorities, courts, regulators, or advisors when required by law or to protect rights and safety;
  • in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or transfer of assets; and
  • with your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell personal information. We also do not state that we use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising at this time.

6. Notifications, Background Media, and Saved Images

The app may request notification-related permissions where needed for media playback controls or future optional reminders or updates. If you save or share images generated by the app, those files may be written to your device storage, gallery, or share sheet destinations that you choose.

When you share content from Islamic Ummah, the recipient platform or app handles the shared material according to its own privacy practices.

7. Data Retention

We retain information for different periods depending on the purpose:

  • local app preferences and caches may remain on your device until cleared, overwritten, or deleted;
  • diagnostic and analytics information may be retained according to our operational needs and provider settings;
  • support or legal correspondence may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond and maintain records;
  • if account features are introduced later, account information may be retained until the account is deleted or no longer needed for legitimate business, security, fraud prevention, compliance, or dispute-resolution purposes.

8. Future Accounts and Deletion Requests

As of April 30, 2026, the app is not yet described to us as requiring user login in the current public web copy. However, you have told us that account functionality may be added in a future release and that user names and profile photos may be sent to your server.

If account creation or sign-in is added in the app, we intend for this policy to apply to that data. At that point, we recommend and expect the app experience to include a clear account deletion path that complies with platform requirements, including deletion request capabilities for associated account data, subject to lawful retention obligations.

Until those features are live, there is no current app account deletion workflow described on this website. Before shipping account creation publicly, you should publish a working in-app and web-based deletion request flow.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission, storage, or processing is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • request access to certain personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of certain information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
  • manage device permissions, local settings, or notifications through your device or app settings.

To exercise available rights, use the contact details or support mechanism we publish for Islamic Ummah. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us personal information improperly, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

12. International Processing

Because our service providers, infrastructure, and users may be located in different countries, information may be processed outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards and operational measures designed to protect that data.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on the website.

14. Contact

For privacy questions, support requests, or future account and data deletion requests, please use the support contact details that Islamic Ummah publishes in the app, on the store listing, or on our website contact page.

For store submission readiness, make sure your published contact page includes a real, active support email address or a working inquiry form before launch.
